Default Less mpg!!! I'm sure lol...

I have just come home from work, I use my 150bhp cdti veccy as my taxi/private hire..
I fitted a dtuk red box yesterday morning which I bought off a forum member..
Very pleased with the performance increase but how people think these increase Mpg I don't know..
Maybe just me, it maybe be because not filled the car up and gauged acuretley yet..
Just seemed to use more than usual, would not mind if I was flying around all the while..
    Is this normal?
    Cheers

I don't have one of these, and don't intend to. If I do anything it will be a remap. However, I have trouble seeing how a device that fools the engine into over fuelling can improve consumption. Like I said, may be talking through my backside, just my view.

I tend to agree with you both at the mo!!
Like I say performance is great, but does not save fuel!!!
Glad I did not buy a brand new one would of been sick as a pig...

ive got a remap on mine . and it gives better mpg ,as long as your not got a lead foot all the time . i think if im not wrong the remap works with the ecu working out the correct fuelling. but the tuning box seems to just put more fuel in all the time . khalid

what mpg do you get with the remap mate im getting around 50/51 keeping it within the speedlimit without a remap just wondering if it would pay me to get one

of course you get less mpg with tuning box --if you use the extra power. only way you get more power is by adding more fuel. some of the more advanced tuning boxes will alter the fueling according to how you drive.
my CDTI is largely unaffected with a dtuk spider box on, as i don't rev it hard much.
remaps are similar as far as mpg goes - hardly any difference in economy unless you "cane it" regularly -- then it'll obviously be thirstier than ever.

I think your right Khalid I also think people read and rely on their fuel computer instead of working out the old way of filling up doing some miles and working it back again..
I was before this fitted getting 45-47mpg regular..
Going to fill up soon and see what I get now!!!
    Cheers Darren
