Thanks guys for all your comments and support ...

reading other parents / members stories about similar aged kids has put our mind at rest .

we are a bit more cheerful now .

but just to be sure we have are waiting for an appointment with a company called " Chat - A - Way " to make an assessment .

    Best Wishes .

According to the staff photo gallery notes in the nursery porch ,

my sons key worker , spent 6 years as a teachers assistant and has a B - Tech 3 and an " interest " in speech and development ...

So no actual qualifications in what she has advised us to do !!!

    and is the P.E. co-ordinator ...

so in reality , she is probably 25 years old but looks younger ( lucky her ) .

KEV G ......... please can you ask your wife what B-tech 3 actually is ?

    Thank you .

To be fair to the experts they do what to look for, they do know how to make sensible comparisons to other kids if they have a concern and they do know if it's worth asking for some advise if they think it's needed.

They can't help it, it's in their DNA. Some might call them experts but generally they are far better known as the child's parents.

Rock and a hard place, eh? Picked up early or dismissed are just someone growing up at a different rate to others? Take it from someone diagnosed severely dyslexic at 35, better to have help at an early age instead or just though to be "thick" and dumped with the other "thickos". My niece has finally been diagnosed dyslexic at 10 when she's shown all the signs for years yet no one at her school was interested. Damned if they do, damned if they don't. At least someone was interested enough so that at least a second opinion could be gained.

My son has ADHD and it is a mild case non the less it effects him greatly at school. We were told there was something wrong at nursery but we thought he was just learning at a slower pace then everyone else as kids do and they seemed to be making a big song and dance over it all. She was a young woman who told us and although he was a little behind we did not feel he was that far behind. He was 3.5 years old how far behind can you be? Our health worker said don't stress it he is fine

It was not until he had been at school for his first year we noted his writing had not really improved, his reading was terrible and he was falling way behind. By the time he was 7 we were constantly up the school as he was falling behind severly, becoming frustrated and disrupted the class. The school were not very good so we moved him to a different school

He is still a little behind in his reading and writing but his maths, PE and Art is advanced for his age. He can do my daughters Maths homework who is 14!

Maybe the girl may have seen something that us as parents choose not to or do not identify with as we are preoccupied with everyday things that fill our lives.

Just keep an eye on his progress you,ll soon notice when he starts school and hopefully she did make a mistake.

    Fully agree with above.
Sounds very much like the teacher is wrong, but at least she gave a sh.t.
