Default 'Rubbing ' Noise from Drivers Wheels

Have done a search but found nothing definitive.

Basically, my wifes 2003 Vectra 2.2 16v has a noise coming from the drivers side front wheel.

It sounds like something is rubbing, but only happens when the car is stationary and then moves off.

It also happened once when the car was up on a kerb on the drivers side, and I was reversing, but does not happen when the car goes forward.

I had the wheel off today, but cannot see anything out of the ordinary.

    Any help appreciated

Sorry is the noise audible when the car is moving - ie as you pull away from stationary or is it there when the car is stationary. What sort of noise is it - is it metalic ie metal on metal?

The noise is audible from inside the car, and is only heard when the car moves from stationary. No noise when stationary.

It is a rubbing sound, but does not sound metal on metal ?

Try the heatshield that is between the lower balljoint and the front disc. It sometimes gets bent and comes into contact with the disc. Easily sorted just bend it away from the disc other than that could be front wheel bearing.

Would that not mean that the noise would be there constantly ?

The best way I can describe the noise is 'a flat tyre sound'

ie. you know when you have a flat tyre, the noise of the tyre rubbing ?

The noise is more persistent than I originally thought.

Would it only be between the bearing and the CV joint?
