    Default ABS Fault

    Hi

Just had ABS fault investigated by local garage and it said front drivers side ABS sensor fault.
My question therefore is, if there was a fault with the wiring leading to drivers side ABS sensor would that show up as a fault on the drivers side ABS sensor diagnostic check or would it show as a wiring fault somehow. In other words can the fault system on the vectra distinguish a fault in a sensor from one on the wiring leading to a sensor or isnt it that clever?

    Thanks in advance

    Paul

    in a word ...no

the sensor being faulty, or a fault with the wire COULD induce the same displayed fault ... there still has to be some level of diagnostic check via a technician to determine the cause .. this could be as siimple as disconnecting the sensor and running a meter over it to see if its short/open circuit or metering the wires for high resistance

thank for your reply, i was clutching at straws i suppose.
Lad who did the diagnosis on the sensor told me this afternoon that he put meter across sensor and it read 0.5 ohms instead of 1.5 ohms.
New front bearing needed i guess.
