    Default HELP With M.O.T FAIL!

hey guys, long time no see......had my veccy in for service and m.o.t, here is what i need and need some advice on the best way them fixed:

    Fail stuff:
    nearside front coil spring
    brake pipes
    2x tyres

    Advisory:
front disc and brake pipes corroded

oh and the other 2 tyres have 2-3mil tread so thinking about getting 4 new tyres

what is the best option with the spring situation?

its a 1.9 150 SRI by the way

    Cheers

front coil spring snapped on a 150 cdti!?! never!

springs: you could either get a pair from vx - they have redesigned the springs for the sri in 2007. more meaty, so should be less prone to snapping. if you become a member you can get a trade club card and save a fair wedge on retail price - around £90 instead of £170! Or go for some aftermarket springs. something like eibach @ about £150 for a full set and you get a bit of lowering thrown in.

tyres: camskill is good and cheap. neo brothers currently do good pricing on neuton nt5000s... so that's another option. depends what tyres you are after. sounds like worth replacing all 4 though.

Almost exactly the same as mine last week: failed n/s/f spring broken and advisories for n/s and o/s/f brake pipes corroded, and a track rod end slight play!

Some places won't replace a single spring but with say have to replace a pair. I've replaced a single one twice now, no problems. Obv if the work's done where the MOT is done you won't have to pay for a retest...

4 Kumho KU31 or 4 Neutons (incredibly cheap and great reviews on here), do them all at the same time, because you'll want the tracking done after the spring change.

another nod for the Khumo tyres, I have always used them and they are great.

I have two on the front of mine and two NCts on the rear (were on it when i got the car).

I would also give a thumbs up for the Eibachs as I replaced my standard springs and the ride has improved greatly.

When i had my MOT in feb they said the fronts were on their limit, had the car serviced on monday and was told the rears are on their limit, tracking is out and had worn the inside of the tyre, ordered myself the neuton NT5000 off ebay yesterday afternoon and even asked them to deliver to my parents house as i knew i wouldn't be home to sign for them, just been told they turned up at 9am. So that me off to the local garage to get these bad boys on.
