    Default Crankshaft pulley replacement

Just over a year ago I had my crankshaft pulley replaced with a pattern part. The construction of the new pulley is different and ever since the engine has vibrated and sounded rough (er) at idle. Also since then I've had a squeal from the aux belt, especially when it's cold, and a really loud squeal when under pressure (i.e. in drive or with the air con switched on) but fine when it's past 10,000 rpm.
I've tried all sorts of belt lubricants, the only thing that worked for a few minutes was chalk!

I've decided to have a go at starting again, new pulley (genuine part) belt and maybe tensioner, although that was replaced last year. Apart from getting the stretch bolt out of the pulley, is there anything else that I need to know before I start? I want to give it a go because I can't stand the thought of giving Vauxhall dealers my hard earned money!
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks
    Phil

Is your Veccy the 2.0dti? If so i will watch this thread with interest to see how you go on. The wifes Frontera 2.2dti uses the same bottom pulley and has suffered the same noise/vibration at idle since it was replaced with a pattern pulley back in Feb. At the time it had a new tensioner and Gates aux belt, which squealed like a stuck pig, so changed that for a VX one and the squeal has gone, but the vibration is still there. I too believe its the pattern vibration damper. I undertsand the genuine part is around £175 from VX.

Sorry I should have said. Mine's the 2.2 dti auto, so same engine (I think)
I did have a genuine belt fitted but it still squealed. Annoyingly, I didn't have any squealing or vibration until the pulley was replaced. I plan to start this over the weekend, weather permitting!
