sounds like rear upper contol arms or possibly shocks? Is it like if you hit a bump going round a corner the back wheels seem to skip a few inches sideways? Mine does this and the control arms were an advisory at recent MOT. The bouncing suggests shocks tho...
You can check for play in your rear control arms:
With the wheels on ground, reach over the wheel and grab the back edge of the tyre at 12 o'clock. Tug on it towards you. If there is any movement you will hear a slight clanging/knocking noise. This indicates worn bushes in the rear upper control arms.

not sure if thats how mine felt, a bit like trying to pilot a blancmange round a corner!
changed the rear shocks and its made a massive difference (one failed MOT) easy enough if you have axle stands, and some torx sockets (think its E18 top, E20 bottom) two bolts out she comes just support the weight of the hub with a jack!

just been under the car and found that both of the rear spring had snap and when i went to put the new ones on somemuppet at the garage has cross threaded one wheel nut and done another up so tight it had snaped in half . now i got to sort that out some how ? any ideas !! , thanks for the advice
