Default Anyone know about oil boilers?

hi all I've got a camry 5 oil boiler I know alot of you like to drive oil burners but I prefer to have 1 heat my house but I've got a little issue with mine and wondered if anyone might know what the problem is. The heating is fine on it's own and when I turn on the hot water with the heating it's fine, but when i put the water on on it's own it fires up and powers down in a few minuits

So at the moment I need my heating on to get hot water. Never only started this a couple o days ago... ...... Any ideas, cheers

I had the same problem with my gas combi boiler. There is a rubber diaphram inside the diverter valve which is pushed depending on the flow of water, whether asking for hot water for heating or hot water at the tap. The water pushes the diaphram which in turn pushes a pin on the side of the valve which makes the microswitch that fires up the boiler. In your case the diaphram will either be stretched or torn therefor not able to push the pin on the valve. My boiler is a vokera and it was a very easy fix, undo six screws which hold the valve together swap the diaphram, screw back together and hey presto!!!

Check you manual for your boiler and it will tell you where the diverter valve is. And if you have a go at it yourself just remember to isolate the cold water supply at the boiler.

Hope thise helps, maybe there is a heating engineer on here who can explain it better.

Have had a lookie to see what I can find but no idea what I'm looking for lol but mines not a combi boiler. Well don't think it is. The way mine works is I put the hot water on and it heats the water in my emersion tank. So still need to wait a while for it to heat uP.

If it is not a combi boiler then as said it will be the valve. Not massively expensive and home replacable as long as you get the right one!

have a wee look in your hotpress, you may see a valve on the pipework with a white box on top with a wire coming from it, there will be a manual lever on this, try this to see if its the valve or not
