    Hi all

    My name is gareth, i have owned a astra 2.2 sri (z22se) for about 4 years and done lots of mods,but now the wife is due are first baby so need some thing with 4 doors.

    im looking to get either a cdti 120 or 150

    or an 2.2 petrol

    unsure on which yet have a budget of about 4k max.

    any suggestions or things to look for on the above models ?

    welcome to Vec-c Gareth. Hope you find a good one, i can't advise you on those engines unfortunately, there are better engines to choose from though . Plenty of good tips will come come along or if you have a read you will find them sooner as hundreds have asked the same thing over the years..

    thanks for the welcome,well im not set on those engines but i am on the budget i can no higher than 4k so think im limited

    4k can get you a motor, these vecs do need the work though, for that money you may get a cracker but you more likely to get one that that will need a few things replacing. Having to replace these things is no bad thing, is something is worn out you have the perfect excuse to upgrade it to a better component.. for example the factory springs are like chocolate and well worth replacing, while your at it you do the droplinks, springs and ARBs front and back.. the ride will then feel like new and its not hard to do yourself..



    Look out for the expensive things
