Default How Did We Used To Survive ?

    HOW DID ONE SURVIVE IN THE 70's , 80's and 90's .

We had no seat belt rules or air bags ,

Our baby prams had beautiful lead based colours ,

No such things as tamper proof bottle tops ,

Kitchen cupboards opened easy as there were no safety locks ,

Cycling was great , no helmets , no knee / arm pads ,

With an ice lolly stick in the spokes to make it sound like a motor bike ,

We only drank tap water because bottled water was still a mystery ,

We collected rubbish , to make things ,

and we were fearless when our bikes had no brakes going down hill ,

We were allowed to climb trees AND jump down , it was fun ,

We played out for hours as long as we got back before dark ,

We walked to school or rode our bikes , no need for a big 4 wheel drive car protection ,

We had no mobile phones , but we always managed to find each other ,

We lost teeth , broke bones , got cuts / bruises and bl00dy noses ,

We ate everything in sight , cakes , bread , sweets , yet we stayed skinny by messing about ,

If one of us had a can of coke , we all had a swig of it , we were not bothered about germs ,

    We didn't have playsations , mp3 , x box , i pod , 999 t.v. channels , mobiles , laptops , chat rooms and internet ,

    WE HAD REAL FRIENDS ,

When we called on friends , we could just walk in their house , no worries,

We could be loose in the big bad worls , without body guards ,

We played with sticks and stones ,

We played cowboys and indians without offending anyone ,

We were allowed to fail , no need for doctors , psychiatrists , councelors to analize ,

We had success , freedom , disapointments and responsibilities ,

Most of all ,,, we learnt to respect each other ,

    ================================================== =================

ARE YOU FROM THIS GENERATION ??

DO YOU REMEMBER THE GOOD OLD DAYS ??

    =================================================

Have A Nice Day Everyone .

We used to do garden hopping ,

a bit like the Grand National , lots of hedges but no horses ... l.o.l.

put fishing wire on the neighbours door knocker and made it look like the invisible man banging on the door ,

My mate and i would each sit on opposite sides of the road on the curb and when we saw a car coming we would slowly stand up with our arms stretched out forward ( like we were holding an invisible rope ) and we used to laugh at the number of cars that used to cautiously slow down ,

We also used to fake our own bike crashes to get a reaction from passers by ...

i remember that all the doors to my mates houses were never locked and we could come and go in these houses without the parents needing a C.R.B.

Things have definately changed , i even draw the blinds open when the kids are in the my garden next to the window which is just behind the settee i'm sitting on .

    I am only 38 years young ( born in 1973 )

but still remember things being way different in the dark ages .. l.o.l.

I've just had another memory come back to me ,

i used to go Bob - A - Jobbing with the cubs and scouts ,

asking complete strangers on street after street if they needed any jobs doing and getting a donation for the scout group and the customer got a yellow sticker for his front window to show other scouts not to knock ..

Can you imagine this today ,,,

hello mister , need any jobs done , yes young lad , my wardrobe door needs tightning up , i can't do it as i have arthritis , i'll just show you where my bedroom is ....

I'm not denying bad people were not around in the old days but we were less protective and innocent back then ...

in the very early 80's i got something called Game and Watch .

it was a hand held black and grey L.C.D. game called Man Hole ,

and it also had a clock on it , which was classed as quite a good feature back then ,

unfortunately , i put it on the bottom of my baby brothers silver cross " bath Tub " on wheels and it slipped through the metal mesh tray somewhere on our travels ....... i was gutted to lose it ...

I remember my mate having a watch with 8 alarms in first school when i was about 8 , i was so jealous , but soon forgot about that when i got a 007 james bond watch for my birthday which played the Bond theme tune ,
