    Default Jon in Aberdeenshire

    Alright all?

I'm new to these forums (as you've probably worked out!) and new to being a vauxhall owner. I'm currently driving an alfa romeo 156 which I've had for a few years now and absolutely love it. Problem is it's just a money pit and I'm pretty sick of that. It's due for some major works over the next few months so it was time to bite the bullet again or make the jump to something else. After looking around I've decided to get an 06 plate vectra 1.9cdti sri 150. I'm picking it up next Friday.

It's got quite high mileage; just under 90k but that doesn't bother me as it's been well cared for. I am wondering about timing belts though. I'm not sure if it's been changed and from doing some preliminary reading I've found out that the belts have a lifespan of about 100k. Maybe some of you could help me out here. Is that right? Do you think it'd be a good idea to change the belt when I get it?

Anyway, just introducing myself, so.. hi!

    Cheers.

Welcome to Vec-C. If there is no history of the belt being done, get it done asap. Change the water pump while your at it too.

Cheers for the welcomes and advice guys. I reckon I'll get the belt (and water pump) done almost immediately. More importantly I'll give it a proper clean after I get it and get some pictures up for you all to see!!

    Roll on Friday...

Welcome m8. Recomendation for a CDTI personally is get the belt AND water pump done before 60k, if there's not any reference to this in the service history. If it has 90k without the change, this is seriously pushing it m8.
