Default Tyre Pressure's once and for All

OK, so i get my manual with my car (Vec C GSi on a 53 plate Registered Jan 2004) which on the back cover says Edition: August 2003
Now the tyre inflation's are as follows:-

As you can see for a manual with standard tyres it states 38 psi front and 35 psi rear with up to 3 persons.

However, when i registered my details on the vauxhall website, it stated the most suitable manual for my car was 2003 march edition which in there states the tyre pressures should be 41 psi all around

Am i missing something, that seems quite a big difference, but why the change, people with earlier veccys will be riding around with their tyres quite under inflated.

What pressures do other GSi owners go by (on standard rims)?

Don't know. In the even later ones, they put a value for 'economy' at around 45psi on the SRi CDTi!!

I stick to 35 PSi all round which feels good too.

oops, just noticed a mistake, i meant to say earlier vecs will have over inflated tyres, not under inflated.

The reason that i'm querying this is when i'm driving at about 50 ish on a smooth road surface, i get like a humming / droning noise which sounds like it's the tyres, i liken it to when i used to ride my mountain bike with rock hard tyres, it made a humming noise, i'm sure you know what i mean Just wondered if it could apply to car tyres, if they're over inflated it would affect the noise.

Maybe its just the brand of tyre i've got on the rear

    Cheers for replies

    Hi
I get that humming/droning noise too, but after looking at a few threads on this forum I'm wondering wether I should get my wheel bearings checked (under warranty of course).I'm running 38 all round btw

Tyres that have a tread patern across the tyre give out more noise, where as a band type tread will have less noise.

    Hi
I have Goodyear Eagles on..theyre a band type tread so maybe the noise is more than tyre/road noise?

tbh I found the road noise in the vec was much greater than my old 306. Not so bad in mans old mans Club though. Ive just put it down to larger footprint the 17's have. If you think its your bearings though mate go and get it looked at.
