Default 2.2 Direct 2007 exhaust emission light???

My car has been a little hesitant and lumpy lately and the exhaust emissions light has come on (not the spanner light).

My question is, Ive got new plugs to try and hopefully sort it then next would be coil pack, but why has the exhaust light come on? could unburnt fuel of knackered the cat/ lambda sensors?

I'm hoping new plugs, coil pack will sort it and the light will just go out.

    Thanks in advance.

The exhaust emissions light is the catalytic convertor shaped one.

I dont know about the recall so i will speak to the dealers about that on Monday.

I also dont know what make of fuel pump I have.

Its defo a ignition thing I think as my exhaust pipes are very sooty and it feels like its running on 3. It only happens when the car is warm so Im guessing its the coil pack or plugs. Im gonna change the plugs as a matter of course as they havent been done at the last service.

I would imagine the fuel pump and or regulator fault would always be there regardless of engine temperature.

Mine ran like a tractor when it was warm, then gave up the ghost, all faults pointed to the fuel regulator, it was indeed the fuel pump
