you can fit a new gasket with smaller hole in it which helps the gases swirl better and therefore less sticks to the valve or you can blank it off completely. If you blank it you either need to leave EGR connected hanging somewhere or have it tech2'd to disable it otherwise you'll get EML.

I think most people get it from Fiat (fiat make the engine and released a new gasket I believe, Vauxhall didn't release it) or you can make it if you have the skills. Have a search on here and you'll probably find a fiat part number.

yes pretty much. Unbolt it from manifold, remove old gasket, probably give the EGR a clean since its off anyways, refit it new modded gasket. probably 20 minute job.

Pros - EGR less likely to jam as carbon less likely to stick in theory
Cons - none that I'm aware of, it was designed for the vehicle by manufacturer. If you make your own, you have to make the whole big enough so there is enough flow but as small as possible to keep as much carbon out as possible.

    middle - modded gaskey

Have a look at this thread,

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...t=48513&page=5

I'll be going to fiat to order the parts when i get back from my holiday, and then crack on with the job, my car is fine at the moment but some days it does lack performance so a good clean can't hurt.

    Fiat part numbers

0055226183 SEALING GASKET at £2.20 (stock item)
    0055225287 SEALING GASKET at £4.67 (non-stock item)
    plus 20% VAT = £8.24 total
