    Default Coolant issue, bonnet smoking and electric shocks - all as standard

    Hi,

    This is another frustrating post in relation to Archie Moss Coalville.

    My Insignia (reg July 2009, 22,000 miles) needed the coolant topping up, with I did. I the continued to drive approx 10 miles and the bonnet was smoking/burning. It has been taken back to the garage with urgency and apparently is just a small leak from the coolant which they can sort. Fair enough, but this is serious and they did not really apologise and in fact spoke to me as if I were some they had stepped in (although the women who booked me in was very helpful but to present today).

    No apology or responsibilty for the car smoking with a 1 year old and 4 year old in the car. They in fact were rude to me when I asked for a 5 door courtesy car (which they denyed) and for a car with fuel (as I had left without my wallet and they gave me one with a completely empty tank).

    On top of this we are constantly getting electric shocks when getting out of the car. I was quite rudely told this was our doing and not the car (despite driving around 20 vehicles and never having such an issue). Tough was basically the answer, so I have asked for a report on this.

    Can anyone advise? More importantly on the electric shock issue and this is unresolved and our 4 year old is getting shocks as well as myself and my partner. I also have a 1 year old who is growing quite rapidly and I am concerned by this.

    Thanks in advance.

    The only time I have ever got an electric shock from a car was when I wore some synthetic materials. You remember the old rubber earth straps on cars? The car is earthed, your insulated so you get a shock, works the other way round too.
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Static shocks.

    Usually caused by the build-up of charge on the body of the car, this can be caused by wind-flow as you drive.

    I doubt it will have anything to do with the electrics of the car, if it where your battery would drain every few days.

    May be worth looking at something like this;

    Try this.Open the door and hold onto the top of the door as you slide out of your seat.If you don't get a shock then its caused by static build up as you slide out of your seat.
