    Default Timing belt interval question

ok,,,heres my issue,,,my sri cdti 150 has 93000miles on the clock,,, it has service history up until 68000miles from when it was in the uk and then was in nothern ireland for a while befor being brought down here to southern ireland early last year last year,,,,,,, the only record of a timing belt and water pump change i have is an invoice for a timing belt kit including water pump and labour costs to change it from a vx dealer in belfast in 2008...this invoice is also marked as paid...but no mileage is stamped on the invoice,,,as to when they completed the timing belt change,,, from the other service history i have and the current mileage thats on the car,,,i have caculated the timing belt change was done around the 60000mile mark,,,,,,, does this sound ok for a belt change ,,and when should i be looking to get it done again ?? ps i took off the cam cover and checked the belt,,it looks fresh enough ,,with the writing still on the face of the belt

A belt looking fresh means nothing. Personally I'd get it done every 60k but its up to you. maybe call the garage who did it and ask what the mileage was when it was changed? they may have a record.

Also is your comma button stuck?

Have a look at the old MOT's if you have them - they should give you some idea of the mileage in 2008 - you could also go on the Vosa website to check out the MOT history - if that applies to cars in Southern Ireland - if any doubt get it changed now .

If you're doubting the paperwork you have, then replace now... piece of mind
My motor had a belt at 80k but no mention of a waterpump... for my own piece of mind the lot has been done again

no warning at all, even if the belt is in good nick the water pump could fail taking the belt out at the same time.

Its unusual for modern belts to 'snap' but most fail from water pump or idle roller failure!, the cdti factory water pumps tend to fail around '60k ish' but as its already been changed the belt should be good for 80k but all rests on how good the replacement parts are, my pump failed in the mid 60k's & to be honest looking at the condition of the belt i would be happy leaving it to the vauxhall recommended 100k if the pump hadn't failed.

You would leave a pump to 100k? That's CDTI suicide!

Plus Vx lowered it to 80k.
