    confused what is this called?

    Ive been under my car and noticed something has been leaking its covered in black oil. im not sure what its called its the bearing thing i think. does it need to be sorted soon?

    when you remove the drive shaft from the gearbox , there is a removable seal that houses in the gearbox , once the shaft is out the seal takes about 5 mins to change if that

    it's a fairly easy fix although it appears to be coming from the half shaft side meaning the driveshaft and the half shaft will both have to come out

    assuming it isn't oil from elsewhere that has run down the side of the box and onto the shaft...

    probably not the case, but worth mentioning and chekcing.

    cheers every1 its off 2 the garage tomorrow to get it sorted. would this cause a rattle while driving at motorway speed?
