    Default window wiper p,s stopped working..

    hi guys , my vectra has the dreaded passenger side window wiper problem,(popped of ball joint at window wiper mech) i have temp repaired with cable ties, i think i seen on here somewhere a way to repair this but cant find it , also are the clip on arms from ebay any good or just scrap...any info appreciated and sorry if in wrong place...

    You can make the ball larger in the socket by folding over a bit of plastic bag, mine lasted 2 years like this, or you can drill and tap the ball and fit a screw in there with plastic washers to hold down the socket.

    Depends on the size of cable tie you use. I had the industrial thickness releasable ones, used two of those on the mechanism and it was still on two years later when I got rid of the car lol

    thanks for all the replies , i need an urgent answer on this if possible , i have chance of whole mech and motor from scrapyard from an 07 facelift , mines is an 05 pre facelift ,thats had a facelift if you know what i mean...confusing myself here , will they be the same or is wiring or something different ..cheers again...

    hi folks , managed to do this job myself , getting wiper arms off were nightmare and then i discovered my wiper mech had already been changed and last person had broke the plug ....so i put my new one in and all back together and nothing ..managed to squeeze my fingers under scuttle panel and push plug and away they went ...so i had to take the whole thing apart again so i could cable tie the plag tight ffs...car is 6 years old and onto third mech that i know of ...anyway thanks for all the replies and to the very helpful how to poster ...

    Why wipers don't work when it's really cold (ice on windows), i'm glad the summer is here as it's something I can put off until the winter. I suspect wiper motor is freezing up, as it works after about 20 minutes with the heaters blowing.
