    Default Signum rear shocks

    Folks,
It seems like the rear shocks are pretty poor on the Signums, with quite a few failing in early life. To help my case with VX, can anyone who's had theirs fail stand up and be counted? Mileage and age would help. I can probably find this info if I search around the forums, but it's a bit easier this way!

    TIA,

    Phil

Must be all that wine you keep bringing back from France Phil,
........she cannnee take it Capt'n, she gonna blow..............

In all seriousness, I've not heard anything myself but they wouldn't suprise me as the shockers look a weak spot. Do you know of any aftermarket options for the rear shock on a Signum. Keep us informed if you get anywhere with Vx.

Can't help Phil as mine probably weren't on long enough (or enough mileage) before I got the Irmscher stuff put on (that'll also answer your question Scottex. )

    Hi,
On my previous Siggy (2.2Dti) they had to be replaced after approx 35000 miles, when the car was about 20 months old (having bought it brand new) . It had taken the dealer 3 inspections / road tests to diagnose the problem and then they did try to extract payment from me saying they were 'wear and tear' items and therefore not covered under warranty. After getting them to negotiate further with VX they were eventually replaced under warranty, as they should have been in the first place I reckon!!!!!! Hope this helps.

I think I have a leaky one on my vec

I back onto my drive and when I got home today I noticed a large oily patch where the back of the car has been over night, I can't think what else it can be besides the sock

It's an 03 with 46k miles, I have no other symptoms yet and the car is out of warranty.

How much do VX charge to change the rear pair of shocks ? or don't I want to know LMAO

    Hi Simac,

Had them replaced on my Vectra last week by VX. They charged me £219.00 for two including fitting and VAT.

Thanks for the info, i'll ring them tomorrow. It is difficult to inspect the shocks don't you think ?

One more thing, are the SRI shocks the same as non-SRI cars

Sri ones are different to "standard" as they are uprated and the car is slightly lower so if you buy from a motor factor be sure to tell them which you want !!!
