    has any changed theirs if so how hard is it , i think mines need changed im getting an awful rattling at that side ,can you tell if they are woren by looking at them

    think mine needs doin aswell ive heard that many bad things about getting them changed about probs after ive been put off , then i went to vauxhall and they want £850 to change them so the job is on hold lol , is it at around and above 2250 rpms ? u cant look at them u have to split the block !!!

    that must be for a full timing chain , tensioners and guides the guides are £12 + vat each ffrom vauxhall im thinking of changing the upper guide it looks like you just take the rocker cover off and remove the guide bolts on the side of the chain cover

    There is no need to remove any engine covers to replace the chain tensioners, except possibly the engine undertray for access to the lower one.
    You just undo the hex bolt and slide the chain tensioner out noting which way it fits, making sure not to loose the gasket.
    To replace, insert the new tensioner (making sure it's the right way around), replace the gasket, and then the bolt which is tightened to 60 Nm.

    Replacing the timing chain guide rail is a lot more involved and does involve taking various covers off of the engine.
