Default Has anyone fixed a PS3 - YLOD...

As title really, I have a PS3 that won't now turn on, just flashes red light after a quick flash of yellow (alleged overheating issue).

I have watched a couple of vids on eBay regarding re-flowing them, but wondered if anyone here has actually done one, and could offer any advice / tips etc..?

    Cheers in advance.

A bloke at work fixed one with a hot air gun to cure the dry joints problem but it only lasted a few weeks. He ended up buying a new one.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

A couple of guys I play online with have followed the vids and managed to re-flow them successfully. However after the repair they both traded the repaired units for slim PS3's as the reliability afterwards is supposed to be a bit hit and miss.

The repair was good enough for them to retrieve the discs out of the systems and perform a full back up before trading in.

    Executive Summary...

    PS3 died with YLOD

    Used YouTube repair videos

Bought heat gun, heat paste and cleaning fluid

Repaired PS3 successfully but with a small glitch. Each time I turn it on it ejects the disc. Minor irritation, but everything else works.

Well that was the kiss of death...

It failed over the weekend after a Black Ops 20 hour session with my mates.

The FAT PS3 is dead again
