    Default Hatchback boot won't open!

Anyone help? I shut the boot on my hatchback earlier today, got in the car and the warning light came on that the boot was open.
The boot looked like it was firmly shut but when I tried prssing the button on the boot to open it all I get is a 'grinding motor' noise like something isn't engaging.
Tried unlocking the boot of the remote fob and control in the door but no joy.
Also the interior light is now permenantly on and it keeps beeping when I'm driving to tell me the boots open.

    HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like the obvious mate - a faulty boot latch. Get a dealer to sort it dude.

It could be a simple canbus fault fixed via Tech2 or a new boot latch.

Try one thing, place both hands on the tailgate & push firmly down while the motor is running.

    Sometimes this can free it.

there is a release for the latch, you can get at it from inside the boot..

there is a grommet in the liner of the bootlid, prise it out and you'll see a large rectangular socket, 5mm x 10mm. put a large flat screwdriver in there and gently work the action to release the bootlock..

I had the same thing happen to me 3 weeks ago.. the slide that the servomotor operates in the electric release has run dry of lubricant..

you need to remove the rear bootlid cover and extract the lock assembly, then liberally dose up the servo motor and it's sliding lock catch with spray grease..

cured 4 vec's now with this 'treatment..oddly enough when they are about 2-3 yrs old..

thats the grommet you need to remove..sorry mobly pic.

Sorted, took it to a mates garage who accessed it as described above by Gsi3.2, and managed to get it working again.
Waiting for Vauxhall dealer to return call and advise if its covered under 3 year manufacturers warranty, if so will get the part replaced.
Was doing my flippin' head in, 40 mile trip this afternoon with interior light on and beeping warning me the boot was open.
    Cheers for your help guys.

I had this problem on my blue 2.2 SXi, not long after I had it. Dealer replaced the lock.
Seems to be a common fault then
