    Default 2.0t power loss :(

    hi all, i have an 04 reg 2.0t elegance and its very poorly, it has no power when pulling away and when you do actually get moving it is juddery and almost cuts out, also there is a loudish hissing noise when accelerating, please help as its just parked up at mo, no fun to drive it anymore, thanks

    sounds like a split turbo hose... you had the bonnet up to check ???

    Definitely sounds like a turbo hose, the most common one to go is the hardest to get at, but the likeliest. It's the one underneath the turbo at the back that connects the intercooler pipe that goes round the bottom of the engine up to the bottom of the turbo.

    Check all the vacuum hoses too, both on the turbo and under the front plastic engine cover.

    hi, have been under it today and can't find any split hose's/ pipes. took it out for a spin and still same, also getting smoke from manifold/turbo area when revved, any idea's ??

    Everything you've said so far still points to a split hose or a vacuum hose split or come off. If it was the main oil seals in the turbo you'd be getting smoke out the back (a lot), if it was the intercooler, you'd be getting smoke out of that.

    A visual inspection of a hose while still fitted often isn't good enough and won't show a split. You need to get in and feel it properly and maybe even take them off and check them closely.

    Have you found the hose I was talking about, it's a very short hose on the bottom of the turbo, really quite hard to get at.

    I would also suggest that it may be a possible wastegate issue with the Garret Turbo you will have.

    This would also signal a HISSING sound and loss of power.

    Happened to me, so worth checking out also.

    The wastegate could have come loose (happened to mine) or even come off completely. This would give the sound of air hissing out of a pipe also. the car could still drive and throw no fault code although acceleration would be varied (depending on what is actually up with it) as the turbo would not be building up any or enough boost pressure.

    yeah the one thats got a small heat shield on it? felt all round it with engine running but couldn't feel any leakage from it??
