    Default £100 ebay tuning boxes

Hi Guys, just after some opinions and experiences please. I've seen a number of these cheap tuning boxes on ebay and wondered if any of you have used them or heard anything about them. I know alot of people recommend DTUK's boxes but given that (as far as I'm aware) they all move the engines safety parameters and increase the fuel rail pressure, they should all be the same??

Any help would be greatly appreciated

they all basically make the engine run rich on diesel which has a postive impact however would be a negative effect on a petrol engine

i had a dtuk crd-2 and took it off after a week and got a remap

Am I right in thinking that remaps are safer for the engine as the safety limitations are still in place? Mine's a 150 CDTi BTW.

My only concerns towards remap/box is that my car's got 87k on the clock and given that 150 cdti's can suffer with a multitude of problems I'm a bit nervous about increasing the power in case it causes any problems.

I have the DTUK CRD-T (which maps the Turbo as well) on my '06 150 SRI CDTI, its has 82K on the clock and has been on since November when I brought the car. Covering 4K Plus with nothing but Funnnnnn when I put my foot down!

O and my Manifold it Shot and needs replacing as well, but what a difference the boxes make! Thus currently I am not running at full power maybe 180bhp ish so cannot wait until I can run it full power and have a new manifold later in the year!!

At the end of the day both a Remap and Box work in 'similar ways' said loosly(so no arguments) as both increase fueling and power(even if slightly differently). Most people are happy with either but some prefer one more than the other, no different to some people not liking vectras

Remember at 80K a Diesel is only just about loosened up and run in so go have some FUNnnnnnnn

    Regards.

Save the extra money and go for a remap, the power is limited in lower gears so it doesn't damage the car and possibly kill you, understeer on hard acceleration on a corner for instance.
A remap will keep your fuel computer about as accurate as it currently is.

i had a diesel express box on for a while, which was great no issues and alot of punch for the price

However now i have a green DTUK box which compared to the D/E box is a hell of alot better quality, trip computer is spot on and power delivery is alot smoother, the cheaper boxes seem to just dump all your torque in 1 load whereas the DTUK seems to give you a smooth delivery throughout the range

I was going to buy a cheap one for testing the engine and making sure it would respond to a remap, but that's all I would use it for. Doesn't matter how good a box is, it will always trick the ECU and therefore the BC will not be accurate. Remaps don't affect the trip computer accuracy either way so that is the way I'm going.
