Default Can you help with this one please - if poss :)

    Hi all,
My friends daughter was pushing down on her osr window, and it dropped inside the door . Her hub has taken the door panel off, and he reckons the whole thing needs replacing....except the motor. Anyone know if this is an easy job? I saw a repair kit (cables, reel, clip) on ebay for about £11. Not much good if the whole thing is broken though.
Its a Meriva (few years old). Yep, I know its a Vec forum!
but you guys have always been really helpful in the past. I think Vauxhall quoted £400.
    Any help appreciated

    Kev

I'd say it may have just popped a rivet TBH There easily fixable but a bit fiddly. Even a second hand mechanism wont cost you that much from ebay.

Yeah i have seen some (the whole mechanism) at around £156, and my friend said she has just seen one somewhere for just under £60. I have read that they have 5 rivets holding them in place, and they have to be drilled out and replaced. That cant be difficult though.
I was just wondering how easy it really is to fix yourself though. Those who do these kind of jobs, always have a habit of saying it was easy, because they have achieved it (even though they probably struggled like crazy - ha ha ).
I heard it is often the carrier clip that has broken. I tried to find out from her hub (via my friend), but all he said was that it was the whole thing. That makes it difficult, because I would hate for her to spend loads when it could be done for £20. Anyone local who may be able to help?
