    Default Heated seats (again)

Had a look around the new car and found all the plugs for heated seats In front either side of the cd player and underneath the accessory socket in the back.Is it a case of just hooking up the seat pads, and away to go,would i need any other wiring or is there any way of telling if the pads are in place already.

if you buy all the pads & both switches, you will still need to have it tech2 to activate it & it might not work ......best thing to do is buy the switches fit them ( the illumination shoud work )(but the switch wont) & then have it activated at vaux the switch should then work .then you can test the plug under your seat . if ok then get & fit your pads..........pads are a long job & are probably cost £100 so there is not point in doing the hard bit if the rest aint going to work good luck

then take 1 step futher & do the back to

Here is leeds vectra for the front seats, and there is no need for tech2:

and here is rorycarz for the back seats, and for the back you do need tech 2:

in fact, I'm doubting of doing the last one, but I'm afraid to remove the rear seats and to fit back the leather afterwards... I asked price for it at my dealer; they have never done it before and have to look it up but they think it will be much more than the initially 320 euro as an option on a new car

    Steve,

The two most important things to bear in mind before buying any parts to do the front seats are:-

    1. Ensure the floor harness for heated front seats is in place. On later cars especially the facelift sri the floor harness is not there, this is because sri's could not be spec'd with heated leather seats from new so they don't fit the loom at the factory. The harness will be there in the dashboard for the switches but stops there and doesn't continue to the floor.

    2. When i did the mod on my 2003 sri, my seats didn't have the wiring harness within them for the heater mats (but the floor harness was there). This bumped the cost up by roughly £100 as both front seats needed harnesses with airbag, pre tensioner, heater pads for back rest and base cushion. The standard seat harness only carries wires for airbag and pre-tensioner.

Once i fitted everything it worked a treat with no need for tech 2. The earlier the car the more chance you have of completing several good mods by utilising existing wiring:-

Illuminated sun visors, rear interior light, heated front seats, auto dim mirror.

Hope this helps, and if you are unsure give me a shout and i'll gladly help you out.

    Paul.

On face lift cars buit after 26th October 2005, there is no loom atall!!!! I found that out nearly too late!!!

There is no loom from the X plug,m it could be added but what a bog job!! All Vectra dash's are fitted with the same loom no matter what model.
