CB radio advice

Just looking for some advice on purchasing a cb radio as i'm not keen on having a massive ariel sticking out of my car but would a smaller ariel, of a similiar size to the radio ariel, still have a decent range(looking for 2-3 miles within a built up area)? And would the CB radio itself have more of affect on the range?

Generally the longer the ariel the longer the range. In built up areas the range is likely to be short. It depends on the mounting location, the radio and the arial!

honestly i doubt very much if you will find many people on now apart from the odd trucker they died out as mobile phones took over

You can get more output from the rig, if you can find a rig doctor these days! Do you want aerial removable or fixed? AM or FM? Cant believe anyone still on!

the sirio hypower 3000 is sup to be good but i loved the k40s lol and the wilson lol and the dv27 blast from the past used to use a dv27 on a tagra magmount many many moons ago big 10-4 good buddy lol

the biggest cb users now are probably 4x4 owners and the odd old school trucker

this takes me back to my teenage years.

Dont bother beefing up the rig, just get a 1000w burner (amp).
