    Default 2.8t Fuel issues?

    Hi,
Had the car since monday, filled it up, took £75, then put £50 in it on wednesday and now its just had another £50 top up, I have only done 380 miles in it since i got it on monday, so roughly £125 to 380 miles, that cant be right!! can it????? computer is saying 21.4 mpg, and fuel is about 135.9 round here.

Is this right? its only done 42k my 3.2 that was on 112k was doing a lot better on fuel both are autos, but this being the fast lift has a 6 speed auto unlike my last signum that was just a 5 speed auto.

Please someone tell me this isn't right and i need a tried to the dealer for a remap or something as I will be selling it again really soon otherwise!!

What about a remap from a normal "i come to your house" remap? the same guy done my Diesel VW Touran and it went like sh!t off a showel and the MPG was much much better.

Thanks for reading and i hope i get some good answers.

I have averaged around 28mpg over 100,000 miles in my 2.8T Elite, recently most of my travel is m/way where I comfortably average 30+mpg, around town though its in the low 20's. I usually get around 275-330 miles from a full tank depending on what sort of journeys.

If your journeys are only short then 21.4 is quite feasible.

More to the point, why are you comparing it to a diesel in terms of economy...? And what were you expecting exactly......

I think he's comparing the before-after remap MPG figures of the Touran, and is wondering if the 2.8 would behave similarly

Correct Celes, I'm not stupid enough to compare petrol mpg to diesel mpg as that is why i bought the diesel (fast, torquey, and very good on fuel) but sold it becuase i was sick of driving a 7 seater bus around when i don't need one. so i thought what the hell and sold it to buy something fast and a bit more reliable!

But as Celes correcetly pointed out, I wondered if having it remapped would give the car a bit more go and better mpg which is what happened with my diesel VW it went from 138bhp to approx 170bhp and went from 33-36mpg on motorway to 44-48mpg depending on if i had the trailer on the back loaded with quad bikes.

    Thanks

hmmm, ok, is there a preferred person you guys use for remap? I use a guy called Neil from hertfordshire/bedfordshire he comes to the house.

When he remapped my touran for £200 he downloaded a copy off the ECU, then emailed to some guy he tweaked it and sent it back, he then uploaded it to the ecu and i tested it, felt better but wanted more so emailed the guy and asked for more power, which he did and sent a new map. again uploaded it and i tested it and WOW!!! it was much quicker. all in all the guy was at my house about 2 hours.

Thinking of using him for this one now.

I get 260 miles to a full tank every time. What you getting?

Without trying to sound harsh if your going to worry about your mpg you have bought the wrong car, these cars are built for pleasure and enjoyment.
