    confused bonnet release lever

had my bonnet release lever fail on me today,it wouldnt open atall ,after much thought and trying different things i came to the conclusion the only way to get the bonnet open was to go in through the grill to reach the catch.
done this with great caution but managed to cut a hole in the black plastic grill being very carefull not to damage the chrome v part since vauxhall charge £97 for this part, but only £41 for the black grill part (FEW)didnt fancy paying for the two of them.
well hole cut to gain access and with a torch and a steel rod i managed to see the catch and release it after a while of trying, got to say i was getting really sick but felt better once i had done it.
£41 pound and my own time, just have to wait for vaux to get my part in next week then it will be bumper off and replace old grill with new one.
as for the bonnet release lever it just needed the tension on the cable adjusting which i found on a thread in the how 2 on this site.
    cheers steve.

Has the catch been greased. Mine was doing the same but it was the fact that the catch had dried out.

Remember they try to make it hard to open for security reasons! Otherwise theives would open the bonnet!
