    Default New spec Police cars

The Lancs + Gt Manchester Police forces have had some new Volvo S60 D5's delivered for use on the Mways around here. When I saw it in the local paper; last week, they were dark colour but with the Police logos and chevrons on them.

Saw one today on the M60 and they don't stand out at all. In the pouring rain, dark overcast sky, it was only when it was 20ft away could you tell it was a Police car. I saw it first on the sliproad coming down and thought "Oh, there's one of those new Police cars", but crikey in the flesh, they don't stand out at all. The dark colour nulls the bright chevrons.

The previous Volvo V70 estates & BMW yuX5's, stood out a mile and you could see them coming a mile off.

I'd like to know is it a good thing or not to stand out as a Police motorway patrol car. I don't know personally either way but I can see them being busy with a lot of people not realising what they are behind them.

There is also an un-marked Volvo S40 in grey working the M6 toll road, that is also very descrete.

IMO they should stand out a mile, isn't prevention better than the cure so to speak !? idea being that high visiablility police vehicles act as a good deterant.

Then again, they would miss out on a lot of £60's then

IMO they should be highly visible, toi act as a deterrent i think they use different colours to help out with the re-sale of the car when its decomissioned
