    Default Forthcoming Changes to MOT Test

    As expected, the latest 'Matters of Testing' VOSA document confirms that next year some of the likely additional inpections in the MOT test will be:

     
    Continuity of towbar 13 pin electric socket
    Inappropriate towbar repairs or modifications

    Gas leak detection spray to confirm the existence of a leak
     
    Rear passenger doors opening
    All door hinges, catches and pillars

    Catalytic converter missing

    Inappropriate brake system repairs or modifications
    Defective ABS or ESC components

    Front and rear lights single operation
    Main beam warning light
    Steering lock mechanism
    Illumination of malfunction indicator light (MIL) for electronic power steering, electronic stability control, electronic park brake control, brake fluid warning lamp, tyre pressure monitoring system and air bag/ pre-tensioner
    Driver’s seat adjustment
    Speedometer

    Headlamp cleaning and self-levelling if high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps are fitted
    Products on the lens that reduce light output


    Battery and wiring
    Power steering oil level
    Damaged or corroded power steering pipes or hose
    Engine mountings

    Steering joint dust covers
    Inappropriate steering repairs or modifications
    Steering lock stops
    Steering box oil leakage
    Inappropriate suspension repairs or modifications
    Drive shaft support bearings and coupling gaiters

    So would a missing main cat fail if you still had the precats?

    bad news for many, it's been on the cards since the last issue though.
    interesting that there's no mention of banning chips/remaps yet, mind.

    Ouch thats gonna hurt many on hear with HID's. Lots of swapping to VX parts just before MOT time then swapping them back again. Mind you now the police will have a field day. I foresee a crack down coming.

    I was starting to think of going down the HID route but that puts pay to that.

    EDIT : Could be a silly question but would my newly accuired eyebrows possible fail a MOT? or am i just being silly
