    Default Saab 9-3 maptun

A garage very near me have just gotten a stage 5 2.0t in for sale on an 03 plate. I am very tempted to go and have a look but what should I look out for? Also what sort of power should a stage 5 be putting out as they have claimed a figure in their ad but i'm not sure if it's true or not.

Don't worry i'll keep the vec but this thing would be a nice vxr alternative

Give Neo Brothers a ring fella, speak to Nicholas. They are the main Maptun dealer for the Uk and should be able to answer any questions you have about it.

I dont know on the latter Saab's but I had a Stage 5+ (custom tune) by frederick at maptun himself when he came over (I already had all the stage 5 hardware on a stage 3 ecu) .. And I was running 362BHP

It was mental, but VERY drivable..

    Seems about right ish.

this is the hardware list for the 93 on a stage 5:

Should be easy to spot some of it..

the 9k always pushed slightly more as the B234R engine as bullet proof where the later Saab units needed internals changing to maintain such high BHP

Seems alwfully expensive, I was recently looking and you can get a decent 2005> 9-3 2.8T Aero for £6k! I'd be plumping for one of them.

I'd have thought £4.5k but could be wrong (as I frequently am)!

Id be wanting to see atleast a rolling road printout to confirm that the power is somewhere near what they are claiming.
If its the red one then it on 86k miles. Would be worth asking on the SAAB forums for known issues etc. and also asking on there if the previous owner is a member.

agreed -you need to make sure you get some feedback from the previous keeper .....why they traded etc ... might be that they have got all they can from it ...or there is an underlying issue when the car is "driven hard" that they have costed up and its not economical for them to repair or maybe they genuinely just fancy a change

best just to start off with a test drive ...make sure it can manage to pull the caravan

plus it will be in the nicer Tax bracket as well

but on a slighly negative note .... i put £20 of Super unleaded in my car last night .............it added 73 miles to my range think what sort of a consumption that will be getting

0-Large smile ......every time it's driven
