dpf gutted, software removed - now precat removal??

Hi all,

I recently got my dpf gutted and ecu remapped, its been great so far, better mpg, loads more performance etc NO regens...

But i want to get the thing taken out and have a pipe instead.. Also wanted to have cat removed..

I thought my car only had a precat and dpf, (precat and dpf is one unit).. But vaux told me today precat is seperate.. comes from manifold somwhere..

Does anyone know where the precat is on these? Also, will this throw up error codes/limp mode? Also, where will i stand mot wise..? i herd mot rules are changing next year.

the cats on your manifold and as yours is a diesel its a smoke test so if yours smokes bad now it will be worse when cat is go.............and to add there is a cat in your dpf half cat half dpf didnt you see a diffrence when you gutted your dpf

Yeah i saw massive diference after dpf gone, it also had remap done at same time..

It only smokes when you hoof it really hard, a little puff.. not that bad really..

Ive got a guy making a pipe to replace the dpf remains, think i might leave cat in then to be on safe side..

Do you know if there are any sensors on the dpf?

yer theres two pipes on your dpf. did you gut it or someone else?? sounds like mine little puff and save you cash there wont be much diffrence in the pipe and the remains off the dpf plus looks more factor fit in my book.

to add the 2 pipes are nothing now there to do with youe regen and as you dont have that anymore there just there for show and theres a lamba sensor thing on the dpf too so need to make hole for that too

ah right - so only the lamba sensor needs to stay in..? I was a bit worried about the pipe things, i was sure the remap guy told me that if i do replace dpf remains with pipe i need to keep all sensors etc connected or error codes/limp mode might show... What do the pipes do?

and, just to be clear.. there are two cats on this car 1 on manifold and 1 in the dpf?

i dono iv left moine how it was just gutted it it works fine and its free so i left it up to you wat you do and iv left all pipes and everytjing there did think about the pipe but say £60 for a pipe then i need to find home for the pipes and sensor i was like **** that lol so its just how it came out the factory and yes two cats one in manifold and one in dpf

if i was you id leave it car runs fine the pipe wont make no diffrence id say so id leave it which i have done lol

its not really a performance gain i was looking for, its already fast as **** i just want rid of that heavy useless drum thats left behind lol.. just feels 'nicer' knowing its gone and a proper pipe is in its place etc..

If you've had the DPF software removed, you don't need to have anything connected to it.
If you gut the pre-cat, leave the pressure sensor connected. If you replace the pre-cat with a decat pipe(scorpion do one) you don't need to refit the pressure sensor ( but you'll need to fit a bung on the scorpion decat pipe)

Hi all,

Well i got the dpf removed and pipe put in its place - all was fine, but now i have the yellow spanner light on, car feels the same from what I can tell, mabey a little louder..? fuel consumption could be a little higher (will need to see on next fill up)..

The thing is my scanguage code reader is not seeing any codes?

Its on constantly..

Any ideas what it could be?

mate as you say heavy useless drum you ever felt it its like less then a big mac you back box is heavyer then the dpf trust me had a dump and you will lose more lol waste of time in my book and knowing mine looks factory fitted if i ever sell it (which i wont) i know it looks the same as everyone elses lol
