Heres a nice one! Well 3 actually 2 Elites and an SRi all 1.9 CDTi Vectra Auto Estates LINKY
What's the point of the Signum? A few reasons....
I've never been a fan of estates - just don't like the 'boxiness' of them and as AJA said they can look a bit like a hearse. As GG says the Signum and estate share the same wheelbase, but with the estate having around 7.5 inches extra overall length.
I don't think the rear legroom is actually the same in the estate. I think if you slide the Signum rear seats fully forward then that will be the legroom that the estate has. The extra length the estate has over the Signum I think is all in the load area - hence why it has such a mahoosive load area.
I wanted an estate type car (but not an estate) that could carry people in comfort whilst still carry a decent bit of luggage. That wasn't my priority as it's not very often I'll carry several people any great distance. What attracted me to the Signum was that is had the load carrying capabilities close to an estate (and probably matching some other manufacturers estates) but didn't look like an estate.
I also really, really like the fact that the rear seats fold completely flat. There are things that I have transported in my car that would have been more hassle in the estate as they don't fold flat.
The Signum boot (with rear seats all the way back) is indeed smaller then the hatch - but if you slide the rear seats forward you increase this space - whilst still giving more than enough legroom. There has been the odd time that I could've done with a bit more boot space when I've been carrying people long distance with a whole lot of luggage etc. - but not often enough to warrant having an estate and driving a longer car around all the time. With the Signum being 7.5 inches shorter than the estate, there are many times that I wouldn't have got into parking spaces if I'd had an estate.
I'm not knocking the estate here - far from it. As a load carrier it is a beaut - beating the likes of BMW and Mercedes in terms of what it can carry etc. If you need to carry lots of stuff around, especially with people, then it's a winner. The Signum kinda fits in somewhere(ish) between the hatch and estate. Doesn't look like an estate, and is still classed as a hatchback! More room for passengers than the hatch, with only a little less boot space if the rear seats are slid forward. If you want to carry a car full of stuff, the seats drop flat and you have a huge load space - much more than the hatch. All this in a car that doesn't look like an estate - I think that's pretty good.
D
Phew, you quite finished there D
I take it you quite like your Signum then m8
I dont care, I use two, lol, specially when the tow bar goes on !!!Originally Posted by Duncan
Oh, it will always work when the tow bars on, kind of negates the need for parking sensors though, lmao !!!
