I had the 2.2 DTI SRI (01 plate) for 6.5 Years and had a tuning box on for over 5 of them!! Running somewhere around 145-150BH, a very noticeable difference indeed and I could get over 50MPG on a run! In fact I prefered it to my previous V6 for normal driving and over taking at 50-70 was a lot quicker! I believe it was a Tune-It box and I never had any problems even with a hard right foot the car had just over 80K when I sold it at the end of last year - so 30-40K miles with the box on Go for it....

6 months ago thou I changed to the 150SRI CDTI (06 plate), the first thing that went on it was the latest DTUK CRD-T box - Wow soooo much smoother and faster still - I would not go back!!

Where do you find these things? Whenever I look on ebay.de there isn't a single Steinbauer box for the 2.2DTI.

I don't think it's a bad idea to remap it. I have a Vectra C from 2003 with Y22DTR (125hp). decided to remap it (safely) and got 144.5hp of engine and 330 newton meters. Subsequently I decided to remove the last muffler and got another 10 newtons, the same silence when driving normally and a very nice solid sound when I step on it. The car runs very decently and manages to pull an Audi A3 2.0 TDI (140hp), as it was with rather large rims and tires, 245,45,18 and gives a consumption of 7L - 7.5L /100km in normal driving in the city. I am sure that with smaller inches it will move even better.
I drive it like this more than 50k km. and nothing bad happen yet!

If you remove the catalyzator there will be 3/4 more hp and at least 10 newtons of torque, but personally the sneeze of the variable geometry annoys me.

If you want some more power, you need to change the turbo and the nozzles with red ones from Saab. After good remap and other litle things you can reach easy ~ 200 hp. But in this case you must be verry careful with the overheat, this engine dont have good cooling on this stage of tuning.

    Sorry for my bad english!
