Would look better with the wider tyre on the rear
Im sure you can do that, but someone will clarify..
Presumably the 215/50R17 is older and the 225/45R17 is newer
Put the 215/50R17 on the front, that way it will wear out first, then you can have 225/45R17 across both axles
There are no issues about different tyre sizes, so long as they are consistent across the car
I thought it would be ok, i need two new ones on the front for the mot but the rears are mis-matched brands and i cant afford to get all four at once as im going on hols in 3weeks.
It will be fine.
You need to have the same on the same axle.
It is generally considered dangerous to have the narrower tyres on the rear!! all other things being equal the narrower tyre will give less grip!
Please provide a link to such evidence from a tyre manufacturer
The 215/50R17 and 225/45R17 have the same surface area on the road, so I don't see how this can be considered dangerous
Equally, if it was an issue then there would be a restriction on using such different tyres
Cheers lads i thought i would be ok just wanted to check!!
