    Default Advice

    Hi guys, im going to be starting a project at some point (hopefully within the next 6 months). I have decided to convert a corsa to a v6 with a twist.

    The project will be long term as i dont have much time for larking about but i plan to adapt a vectra 2.5 v6 to either a twin turbo or supercharger the thing i want advice on is the revs. Im going to have the cams reprofiled and the cooling upgraded but i want some advice on increasing the rev range. I want the engine to redline at 12k, i know it will require some header work and complete custom exhaust but i want to know what work i will need to perform as i intend to do most of it myself. Also i would like to know about using a diesel fuel pump to maintain pressure at the higher end of the rev range. The pump will be geared to work at optimum pressure for the engine at each rev.

    Did I read that right a 2.5v6 corsa with either twin bines or charger bouncing of the limiter at 12k revs that will be sommit to see! Good luck!

    Yes, you did read it right lol. And it will be mid engine rwd its just a plan at the moment but the plan is all set and the work will commence within 6 months. i just need to save some money to buy the engine so i can start work on it. i will be using the turbos from the 2.0 turbo as i want the variable vanes

    12k? Is it April Fools again already?? What kind of readily available con rods can withstand that speed?

    I just don't think it can be done in a road car, modified by Joe Public - certainly not with a Vauxhall block and head.

    12k may be ambitious but with the right equipment it can be. i wont be doing all the work myself as there are bits that will need to go to specialists and i did say i would be upgrading many components but i wanted to keep the raw elements still vauxhall. This project is not going to be 'over a weekend' but is going to be one of them 'im going to the shed' few year projects due to money and time. i have also thought of using a rwd base and having the engine in the front and gearbox in the back but i like the idea of turning around and seeing a beast of an engine lol.

    going at that speed , it will have to be a very well balanced engine not to shake itself apart

    good luck, and when it's built bring it up here and scare the local chavs in their corsas

    and when this monster is born how do you plan to transmit all that power to the tarmac as useable traction?

    Currently it all planning but the power wont be too much to transmit to the floor. i expect around 400(ish) bhp as im planning a bi-turbo setup rather than the traditional twin turbos. i wont be modifying the turbos at all as i plan to use the variable vanes ones. i will be using much wider rear wheels, the drive shafts will have to be custom made and the gearbox will be reworked and strengthened but i have considered using something like the vw dsg box. this part needs more research tho.
