DTI's apparently fit as they use the same airbox. Was looking at this myself, but cant help thinking there must be a reason for the long air intake on the 1.8. if you have a look inside the intake it has a sort of cladding in it, maybe its to reduce induction noise was my thinking.

mm, but having the pipe over the rad can only make the air warmer though, which i understand isnt what you want. I also wondered what the material was inside of the 'longer pipe'. Might try courtenay sport for the shorter one or a breakers, for the dti. Nothing's ever simple with flippin vx!

The shorter one will possibly lower the MPG. As I mentioned on another thread today, why would GM fit a longer more expensive intake when they could easily fit a shorter cheaper one in the first place. Its there for a reason chaps

if you wish to persist in your folly a shorter intake is available from dealers for £9.54. Ask to see diagram of 2.0. Apparently it will fit all models except VXR. I am going to try it anyway cos I am reckless and live life on the edge.

maybe the stuff in the long intake is meant to even out the air temperature? Or to cool it? It seems to be long intake on naturally aspirated, and short one for turbos. The longer intake could be to extract heat from air and conduct it away. Hmmm .....maybe I'm being foolhardy. Think i'll still try it, can always put it back.

Might be to accelerate the air down the pipe, creating a depression to induce more air flow.
