If I remember rightly its on left hand side. Just under the ecu plate.
Should make sense when looking at the engine with plastic cover off?

    What problems are you having?

Not worth cleaning as it doesn't help...not on the 3.0CDTi.
A faulty EGR will cause massive black smoke under full throttle, and when it's really broken the car will drop into limp mode.

    Default EGR Location

My car went into limp mode with engine management light on but when i had it read the ecu fault was with the maf sensor but that is ok, so had codes reset and was clear all week i did 200 miles around town no probs. Set off for london did about 130 miles and light came on again and went into limp mode again using cruise could stay at 70 on motorway until i got there had had RAC out. Fault was now egr did 15 mile back on again so made it home (via cruise) not wise i know but had car full. got faults read again egr valve reading again cleared it and ok again today, will replace if need be but other people are saying you can blank it off with no adverse efects for mot as NOX levels are not measured in uk. heard lots of different stories about blanking (plate with holes so no engine light, or remap via "regal autosport" with plate to cure same probs) anyone know for certain the cheapest way out don't really want to spend £500 when ive only had it 9 days any ideas would be great thanks.

Blanking doesn't work on the 3.0CDTi as it will show a manifold pressure fault code.
When the car is not in limp mode, does it smoke black (heavy smoke) when you give it a boot full? If yes, your EGR is faulty I'm afraid.
If it was a boost related problem (blown hose) the code reader would pick on that, not the EGR, same goes for vacuum related problems.

This is where the EGR is located just so you know Fiddly to get to, even fiddlier to put back together...The red circled bit is the hardest to remove, well the connector on it is.
