Default Be careful when it rains

    Little reminder folks,

Over the weekend as the rain was pouring, my car round corners was like it was on ice, little bit of power and it was off the track immediately.

I thought it was maybe my tyres so I took the wifes Astra for a spin and same thing.

As someone has mentioned before, I think its to do with the temperature of the road being high with the recent sun and then the rainfall.

Honestly it was really insane as at one point I didnt expect it and had to negotiate the corner unexpectedly....but I did have some fun a little later .

But seriously guys, be careful when the rain comes as is it like a skid pan in the corners.

its the rain lifting all the rubber and debris from the tarmac after a long dry spell. Noticable how much more slippy it is compared to rain in winter when its a normal occurance.

Usually happens with moderate rainfall after dry spell, heavy rain generally washes all the muck off. Worth noting though, can be a bit of a shock.

Always careful after/during the first shower of rain after a long period of dry weather......for reasons above mentioned.....

Roads can turn into skating rinks....no matter what tyres are on the car....although some are better than others.

    Bikers must be really concerned!!!

    Cheers

I have had a few scary moments on a pushbike in the past when riding on damp surfaces after a long dry spell, on one occasion both wheels completely lost traction simultaneously and I ended up horizontal with a ripped top and a badly grazed elbow.

At least in a car you have 4 wheels.
