Default Is full vauxhall service history worth continuing??

The signum i bought in february has always been serviced at vauxhall before i got it. Just wondering wheteher it adds any value to the car to keep it going whilst i have it or does it not matter who stamps the book?

I think i could do most of it myself but i don't have the best of luck when fixing my own car, something usually gets stuck or breaks!! Plus you dont get the stamp in the book. Would this make much difference when compared to the savings you get doing it yourself?

I think it's only 'really' worth anything for a car up to 3 or 4 years old. That said, I think local or reputable mechanics will perform a far better job than a dealer.

Personally i dont see any point paying the prices they charge.. plus has already been said a local mechanic you know and trust to do any work would be best imo.. better still get stuck in yourself

Bought mine at 18 months old. It had full vx history so i carried it on till about 4 years old.

I know do it all myself thanks to this forum for great info and incurigement.

Must have saved myself hundreds and hundreds of pounds.

Car is now 7 .5 yrs old and i have no plans of selling it.

I also keep a detailed log on A4 paper with mileage, date, and job decription of anything done to it, like tyre change, brake disc change, oil service, air filter, etc.

This is my version of full service history, and also good to look back on for reference as to when things were last changed.

This paper work always gets given to the new owner. Have done this to all mine and my wifes cars.

When i bought the Astra new and sold it at three and a half years not once was the service book asked or looked at by vauxhall.

This vectra is coming upto 3yrs by end of nov but this year i'll get the service at vx then afterwards i'll do it out of warranty.

My aim is to keep it at least another 5 years if not longer and fsh won't matter too much at that age to anyone.

As above, it depends on how many miles it will cover during your ownership

Once a car is out of OE warranty then there is no need to continue with a VX dealership, but it can have benefits if you then continue with a third party warranty

Once a car is beyond its tenth service / 100K miles there is no benefit on the used value

Sadly on the 3.0 V6 CDTI I cannot find any local garage that can match the same service from a VX dealership on price of around £150 / £180
I suspect this is simply due to the oil filter and amount of oil required, as all the other parts are fairly common on the other engines

i wouldn't as it does not mean anything to me when buying a car due to a lot of these 'full service histories' not being worth the paper they are written on or simply fake. I keep the receipts for items I have replaced with my details on to show what has been done for real.

A stated above though, once its out of warranty whats it worth. Besides which i would not trust a vx dealership to pump my tyres up let alone do any work on it..

As said above, depends how long you are keeping it and who you intend on selling it too, people that do not know much about car's will look for FSH on the Ad when selling, if they don't see it, they may not even inquire about the car. Part Ex will also knock money off. But think of the money you could save in the long run........
