    Default Car in the stealers

About a month ago i had to have a new wiper motor, so had it done at the stealers, also i got them to check my engine as it was noisy on cold so they kept the car that night and when i picked it up next day they said it was fine, then last Thursday went to start it and it wouldnt, just squealing, so called AA out, said no compression, so he towed me to the stealers, and apparently its the dreaded camchain, its only done 32000 ish miles on a 07 56 reg 2.2 direct, they want £754 to do it but said once its done it may have done some damage to the valves, he reckons if it has it may be double that figure, do you think i can get them to pay for some of this work as it states on the previous invoice check for noisy engine, any help would be appreiciated guys, one thing after another at the minute, still aint got my climate working either but thats another story

I had this matey at 16000 miles and 4 years old, get on the phone to Vauxhall UK and argue with them, I got half paid by them even though it was a year out of warrenty, explained that if a rep had this happen within 18 months of the car they would sort without question, just cos its taking us longer to get higher mileage we are being penalised... HTH.... common problem too....

If you have to pay for it yourself, there's no particular reason why you need to pay main dealer rates - plenty of garages are capable of removing a cylinder head, sending it off to be reworked and fitting a new chain.

I see what you're say about having it in for them to check over the engine noise,.. but proving it was that at fault might be hard.
I'd be miffed if I had it in for a good look over and it failed a month later.

Quick update on car, got it back last week, luckily there was no further damage so paid the £757 and drove out of the garage, one big smile, drives like its had a new engine put in, sooooo pleased, and my climate control panel came today and that was just plug and play too, good result in the end, now start saving once again for my dash conversion of Kman, ;-))))))))

glad it's sorted, but £750 is still a big bill that you could have done without.

Benny from here could have done it for a few hundred pounds cheaper, and he's just up the M1/M6 from you.
