Don't it will hamper performance and cause all kinds of problems as the airflow will be erratic through the MAF. If you really wanna try it see if you can get the same airbox as yours on ebay and experiment with that.

Someone done it to their car and quickly had to put it back the way it was as the car ran badly.

Even after market Filters have a runner inside to align the airflow over the MAF so i'd leave in be IMO. It also instigates the spinning affect inside the intake so speeds the airflow up which in turn helps with torque. Yes cutting it off may give you better top end as more volume of air can travel, but at a lower speed so to the loss of torque, so unless to want top end BHP numbers on a RR or drive around on the red line, keep it. Its there for a reason

I cut it along the length of the top tube Mark, only the bottom half of the top tube,so it still catches the air i thought.
I can't say i've noticed any difference at all to be honest, but i might look for another air filter box top to put back on to see if anything is different again.

Yes mate,i cut along the length of the top tube inside the lid of the airbox along the center,so the length of the tube is the same length, but there is only the top half of the tube left,i thought i'd try doing it that way so the air will come in the airbox, through the filter and be caught by the top half of the top tube, and wouldn't have so far to go,to go through the maf,so getting the air in quicker.
I have no idea if my idea worked or not,as i havn't noticed any difference to be honest.
