Default Not having a good week...

Following on from: http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...6&page=1&pp=10 I had to go and hurt the Vectra again...

Of all the things to reverse into I chose a Landrover 90! What happened? Reversed out of space opposite the 90, got my trainer laces caught on the throttle pedal so could not hit the brake and by the time I had fully realised why my right foot would not move any further it was too late to pull the handbrake!

Damage (too dark for pics at the moment) = big dent to the left of the griffin badge (I hit the back of the 90 and the spare wheel!) which has creased the line that runs under under the rear lights. The passenger side number plate light has moved, the boot catch switch works intermittently, and a bolt on the 90's towbar has gone through the rear bumper (which is now creased...).

No immediate apparant damage to the Landrover though, worst thing is I have to call the owner in the morning to tell her...

So, moral of the story - watch your laces!

Gutted! Probably have to put it through the insurance as I think it may mean a new tailgate and bumper.

I know, could have been worse - could have got the laces caught on the motorway! They were tied, just a bit long!

At this rate I'll take over the mantle from Duncan?...

lol - I agree. An SPD pedal went faulty and wouldn't let me release my cleated shoe - just as I had stopped at some lights. Too late - centre of balance already over that side and went unceramoniously crashing over! Ditched Shimano pedals after that point for the simpler to release, yet more secure, LOOK range.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune JuzzyD - hope you get it all sorted soon.

Ahh, the SPD days, I've had plenty of mishaps with those bl00dy things... Eventually had crank bros 'eggbeaters' as they were supposed to be really good for the release mech, but still ended up grabing at trees to stop falling off !!.... I've got sealed bearing 'normal' pedals now... will only put SPD's back on if I'm doing a marathon ride, which doesnt involve anything technical !!
