Unhappy Check Safeguard & Courtesy Light Fault HELP!!!

    Hi, I'm Karl

So i got my car (1.8 Elegance) second hand about a month ago, well every things good except, whenever i put my key in the ignition i get "CHECK SAFEGUARD" on the center console screen. I have got used to clearing it but it now getting a bit annoying, also none of my courtesy lights are working, looking at previous post I think it may have something to do with the center light wiring(by the sun glasses holder). I have had a look and reseated the connectors but the problem is still their. I have no courtesy lights on in the front back or boot? but i can turn on the front and back passenger area lights individually. The car icon shows the doors are open on the dash and I have checked all my fuses none seem to have blown.
    I hope someone can help!

Sorry if there is already a post I have had a look for quite a while all over the web it seems nobody else has experienced this problem before.

Get it hooked up to a Tech2 code reader and get the fault code(s) read out.

Saves faffing about trying to guess what the problem is.

Check Safeguard means there is an issue with the alarm on the car. Due to the fact that the ultrasonic sensors are build into the courtesy light housing in the front and with you having an issue with the courtesy light then the first thing I would check is where the connectors plug into the Rear Fuse box, you will need to remove the trim from the passenger side of the boot.
If that is plugged in then I would trace the ribbon cable up and above the roof linning to ensure it hasn't been cut etc.
These checks won't cost you anything so are worth checking before paying to have any fault codes read.
