    Default Local Aircon Fix

Has anyone had an aircon fix in the locality - namely Maidstone?

My Vec is far from chilly and I want it to be

    Thanks

Does it need fixing or just recharging/regassing? If its just a recharge needed then Quikfit can do it.

Fingers crossed it just needs a regas. I had mine regassed and it lasted around 2 weeks. Ended up having a new condensor fitted then regassing again. Might be worth getting it checked for leaks first. I had quite a few in mine.

Do you know if kwikfit have the service to check or just regas?

I am guessing checking for leaks is not a diy job?

If I remember correctly they hook it up to a machine that checks the system for leaks first then regasses it if all is well. Last year it was @£45, don't know how much now though!

usually to check for leaks a uv dye is added to the gases so the system basically has to be recharged anyways, a decent place will add the dye and rechare incase there are any leaks even if they arnt any because its lost gas, bring it up to pomphreys

They will hold it at a vacuum to check for leaks.

If it does leak they will first look for the UV dye staining.

If they cant see any die they shouldn't add gas with dye as its against the law to knowingly leak Aircon gas into the air.

They should fill the system with Nitrogen and use a 'sniffer' to detect the leaking gas.

Oh and who ever does it should have a gas handling certificate.

its in bapchild mate and i dont know what they charge tbh mate. as for what should be done that is on the ideal world but often to find the problem you have to deviate and be a bit inventive, for example if there is a car with a very hard to find leak youlle put some dye in then let the car go for a week or so then check it when it comes back and nitrogen is the ideal leak detector, when you have some lol. when i regas mine im gonna put dye in anyways to save hastle lol
