Technically and legally, No, it has expired and if stopped could cause you a bit of explaining. Get the app in 1st thing Monday and ask them for their advice, then take the persons name and quote them if they say your OK to drive, if and when you are stopped.

I've seen loads of this on programs like road wars, if stopped you may get done for driving without a valid license

happened to my mate, so this what you do, first thing mon morning go to the liscense office and apply for a new updated one, they will issue with a note that allows you to continue driving until your full liscense comes through, technically you are not allowed to drive he was told, when he asked about his being expired

I got a letter about mine expiring which I sent off after it had expired and it was fine, new licence sent back fairly swiftly.

I think it is illegal to drive on an expired licence however the fine is applied if you provide knowingly incorrect information when you re-apply.

Presumably you are referring to the photo component of the Driving Licence

You can be fined up to £1000 for driving whilst using this expired licence

If you have reapplied for a photo licence then you are entitled to continue to drive, providing you are still entitled to do so (as per the paper licence and vehicle category)
Therefore copy this application and then send by Recorded Delivery

Sadly the DVLA do not advise or warn that the photo component has expired
Quite a lot of people drive unaware of this, many cases end up in court as a result
Note though it is NOT Driving without a licence, so is not endorseable

Just went to a main post office and renewed mine, they send the pic (and the scanned form) electronically so its instantly with the DVLA and I continued driving while waiting for new licence. (mine hadnt expired - it was coming up).
