Default EGR on Auto Protect warranty

Just a quick post after last month's request for advice on my 3.0 Signum going into limp mode all the time.

I've read so many bad reviews about Auto Protect warranties so thought I was going to be in for a big bill, the car has only recently bee bought but the dealer just kept cleaning the EGR which blatantly just needed replacing so I rang Auto Protect who the dealer arranged their warranty through.

Was told I need to take it to my nearest approved garage which for me was a little Halfords Auto Centre who did the diagnostic today and confirmed it was the EGR, have approved the spend with the warranty and when the EGR comes in it'll be swapped out. I have to pay the £49 diagnostic fee which I'll claim from the dealer so hopefully I'll finally be able to put my foot down and test that V6.

Local Vauxhall garage quoted me £795 ex vat for the part and fitting!

Hopefully this provides a little balance to the 3rd party warranty discussions. I realise they are probably still criminals but on this occasion, all seems well.

Thinks your local vauxhall garage are the criminals for trying to charge you £795 to change an egr .
    Name and shame the garage.

It was the Franchise in Macclesfield, Bristol St Motors I think.

The 3.0 has a more expensive Egr apparently, they wanted 400 ex vat plus 79 diagnostic fee plus 4 hours labour at around 80 per hour lol. Laughable.

EGR is on back order so pick the car up today but got the air con serviced at the same time so at least I'll be cold while I'm driving slowly for the next week!

What part numbers were provided for the EGR replacement?
Assuming it was 4.0 hours labour, is that £80 rate per hour ex-VAT?

    Yeah 4 x 80 per hour = 320 + diagnostic @79 + 400 for the part is nigh on 800.

I switched off when he said the EGR was 400 to be honest as there was no way I was going to fund that myself. Part of me was thinking if it all came in under 400 I'd have just paid it as the car was a good price and it stopped me locking myself into a massive loan on a new car so have a bit spare. 800 is too much, rather squirt oil and limp home!

Didn't get a part number I'm afraid. For perspective Halfords Auto Centre arranged via the warranty quoted 39 per hour.
