Default Hello again, I'm back need help with signum

    Hi all,

I am looking at buying an 06 plate signum design 2.8 v6 turbo manual.

It has auto headlights and auto dipping rear view mirror,

it also has built in blluetooth that you access from the cd70 heaadunit it says something about show UFH or UHF or something, cant remember! lol

anyway, the screen is one of those orange ones, can i change this for a full colour one, and if so what do i need and does anyone have one??

Also, i took it for a test drive, it has 72k on it, im not sure if its any quicker than my old 3.2 v6 auto signum, can this be right?

Are there many other mods i can do to it??

    Thanks in advance

    James

If its the 230bhp model you drove then there won't be a lot in it. It could also be the 250bhp model but you would need to check that. A remap and it will be a lot quicker.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I believe all you'll need is the RGB cable and the screen and then get them mated together. It has to be properly tech2'd out of the donor car though or you might as well use a brick...

It should be about 230bhp, which isn't much more than the 3.2 if I remember rightly. the difference is the turbo and way it delivers the power. It's also very tunable as it's the same lump in the VXR, so easily capable of 280 and above if you don't mind spending the money...

The CD70 does work with the full colour display.

You would need a display that is either new and set in 'delivery' mode or one that has been 'divorced' correctly from it's original paired headunit. Either of these would allow the new screen to be paired to your headunit once your current orange screen has been correctly 'divorced' from your headunit.

Next, I am no expert on this but I know there are different plug combinations for different headunits and screens, so before you go hunting for a screen you need to establish the type of plug coming off your headunit. And don't forget any extra cable required as full colour and basic 2 colour are quite different.

Finally, once a suitable screen (with correctly sized mount/surround) is fitted you would need it paired to your headunit (as I mentioned).

So, yes it can be done. No, it's not massively complicated as long as you check, check and check again.

Hi James, These are great cars you will love it. I've had mine since July last year and its been a great car. In standard guise they are quick but when you map them they are unreal. Mine is currently running 280bhp and is like the preverbial off the shovel. You can expect any where between 20 - 24mpg around town and 30-36 mpg on a long run. Any other questions fell free to PM me.

What about the climate control, can i change that to dual zone and can i change the mirrors to folding mirrors?

Are there any problems I should look out for??

Also it has 19" snowflakes that have been curbed

Any idea of someone GOOD at refurbing them??

Thanks again, as soon as I get it i will get pics up etc.

is 4995 a good price for it? 12 months mot, 3 months warranty, new front tyres, new service, £200 towards the mega high tax. 72/73k miles on clock.

If it has autodip rear view mirror and auto headlights will the wipers be auto as well?

Would really like xenons but hey ho!

Erm I'm pretty sure dual climate only came on the elite model. With enough money you can retrofit anything mate but both are pretty involved and costly.

A10 alloy wheel centre in Cheshunt are supposed to be pretty good i've not used them personally but have seen good reviews on other forums.

You want to be checking for full service history, the usual broken springs, also check for wandering revs on idle as can been signs of a dodgy MAF or Coil Packs and these cars had a recall on the header tank as they are prone to cracking so check to see if its been replaced, you'll tell this as if its a black one its all ready had the recall done. Other than that they are pretty good.

£4995 is an ok price but i'd haggle a bit and see what they will do as i bought mine last year FSH 43K and the full kit for £5995.

It will have auto lights and rain sensing wipers if it has the light and sight pack.

Ive fitted after market HIDs to mine and they are great and a lot cheaper than sourcing Xenons and retro fitting them.

What colour is the one you looking at? Where abouts is it?
