Yes when an animal has unscrewed the top.
I used to have a 120 and that never started very well ether. Spoke to a mate at vauxhalls at the time and he said, they had a few in like this and all had a slightly bent con rod. Water damage at some point.
It will run and start fine when warm. You can check this by removing the glow plugs, put a thin rod down the bore at TDC and mark and measure.

I've got similar problems to you bud

If I turn the key to position 2 (ignition) two or three times prior to starting the car it starts fine.

Had all the glowplugs changed over in November so It can't be them.......

Heard people mention about changing "Leak-off pipes" and also possibly the "Injector Seals" but have yet to get round to trying them out. Will be cleaning the throttle body out when I get a chance as that'll be another thing less to try lol

As with you once the car is running it runs and starts well.

Priorities for me first though are to replace the droplinks (have just ordered some uprated saab ones), ARB's (front and rear) and rear upper control arms, as since lower the car it seems to have started to rattle itself to death

Hope you find a solution and get it sorted

Worth checking you are getting voltage to the glow plugs?
